GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man’s truck was hit by a train when he refused to move it despite warnings from officials.
At about 7:16 p.m. Tuesday, two Grand Rapids Police Department Officers stopped at El Sombrero restaurant located at Bridge Street and Seward Avenue NW. When they got there, they noticed a truck was parked too close to the train tracks. Once inside the restaurant, they warned the owner of the truck, but the owner replied by telling the officers that he didn’t feel it was too close, and that he wasn’t going to move it.
Police tell FOX 17 News that about one minute later, a train rolled in, smashing directly into the truck.

maybe his vehicle needed costly repairs … and he did it on purpose, so that he could file an insurance claim.

I was actually eating there when it happened. When the police officers heard the train they asked the guy if he thought his truck was too close , and when he turned to look the train had already hit it. He had no time to react. And also the train barely did any damage because it was only probably one inch over. This website is unbelievable the way they lie about everything.

if he had a gun he could have shot the tires out on the train before impact

or maybe he didn't have a warning and his truck being hit by a train was too boring of a story so they had to make him look like an idiot as if it were his fault. hmmm, interesting

WHY park that close in the first place? It's true stupidity. I hope his insurance doesn't give him a cent. I know there were other places to park there…there always is…

I get where everyone is coming from, like why did he park so close, an the media maybe exaggerating a little bit, or maybe he was warned an refused. But besides any of all it, has anyone even thought abt how may thing work in mysterious ways…like what if he would have hurried and went to move his car bc of the train an was seriously hurt or even possibly wouldn’t have been so lucky! Good luck with everything to whom ever for what ever the truth is, hopefully this opens ppls eyes an maybe think a little bit more before doing something tht resulted in something almost so dumb, comensence guys…

Hmmmm, the parking lot at this restaurant is sooooo small that you have to park next to the train tracks. No excuse works for this one. Use your brains and park in a real parking spot, although I couldl understand maybe this person could not see the parking space lines due to the snow so maybe he used the edge of the traintrack as a marker. You know, excuses are like a**h****, everyone has them. Almost as good as the guy going down the middle of Bridge Street yesterday during rush hour and snow in a little raschal………
