Driver Slides Into Oncoming Traffic, Dies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A man has died after his vehicle slid into oncoming traffic on M-37 Sunday night.

At about 9:20 p.m., Theodore Heath, 21, of Hastings was driving northbound in a Ford Taurus when he slid into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Chevrolet Pickup truck that was heading southbound.

Heath was transported to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the truck, Jack Rose, 54, also of Hastings was treated for minor injuries.

Icy road conditions appear to be a factor in the crash.

One of the reasons people in GR need to stop driving like they own the road.

I agree. I hate when they ride your ass when you are in the slow lane.

whoa, were you there? Do you know that was the case. Do you realize someone lost a son, brother and maybe a dad. Maybe a little compassion would be more like it right now, instead of judging.

Thank you Tracy. We are friends with this young man's mother. My heart goes out to her and her husband and Ted's younger brother. I'm sure he was driving as safe a possible… I was watching the weather here last night and it was really getting nasty about that time. M-37 is a two lane road… not much room for error! My prayers are with you Dianna and Ted!

I grew up with the Mother of this young man. She is the sweetest Lady ever. My heart goes out to her and all of her family. There all wonder people.

He was the love of my life and after years of riding with him in the winter, I know how safe of a driver he really was. People need to consider who will be reading their comments and how it might affect those people before putting in their uninformed opinions in a public commenting area. Thanks.
