GR Woman Gets Five Months In Jail For Killing Three Kittens

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Melanie Jasina, 56, will spend 150 days in the Kent County Jail after investigators say she snapped the necks of three kitchens last March.

It happened on March 3 after an argument at a home on the 1700 block of Center Avenue NE in Grand Rapids. Police say the cats were all less than 12 weeks old and belonged to a 16-year-old relative of Jasina’s.

Melanie told authorities that she didn’t remember the incident because she had been drinking all day.

Jasina had a criminal record before this latest run-in. In 1999, she was charged with possessing and discharging a firearm in St. Clair County.

In a psychiatric exam after this latest arrest, she told investigators that she’s been drinking since she was 12.

If Jasina gets substance abuse counseling during her time in jail, she could be let out early. She’ll also serve two years’ probation.

Who ever wrote this article is stupid. Learn how to spell words. You can’t snap kitchen’s necks.

That may have been a silly mistake, but what is your excuse for being rude? I'd rather be dumb than snobby.

I just have to say that this is not right to do to any animal but it's also NOT ok to kill human babies !!

I dont care what influence she was under its wrong. Even though she gets counseling in jail doesn't mean she'll stop drinking when she gets out. In my opinion she needs to set her butt in jail for the ful term and do community service at a animal shelter.

Well, I guess some people still think that drinking is an acceptable excuse for everything they do wrong. Wake up and smell the steel bars, babe. What would your excuse be for snapping the neck of the 16-year-old?
