BILOXI, MS.– A Montague man won a $7.2 million jackpot on a penny slot machine at the Palace Casino Resort in Mississippi Friday.
Tyler Morris was playing the Lord of The Rings slot machine when he struck big. The man usually plays craps, but decided to take a turn at the slots in honor of a friend whose funeral he attended earlier that day, according to the casino’s press release.
Tyler told staff members at the casino that he felt his friend was watching over him and had blessed him to win the jackpot.
Tyler and his wife Mary also told the casino that they purchased a new car earlier that week so that they could make the trip to the Mississippi Golf Coast. They said they were going to pay off the car.
The Lord of The Rings is a Mississippi state-wide progressive penny slot machine. It has a max bet of $3.50.
The jackpot resets at $200,000.
Tyler and his wife also told the casino that they plan to spend some of their winnings on their children and grandchildren.
