KALAMAZOO, Mich. — What do get when you cross a deer with a police dash cam? You get a mad dash caught on tape.
It was a wild find. A Kalamazoo public safety officer checking parked cars at a Red Roof Inn off Cork Street.
Something seemed off as the officer approached a man just sitting in his car around 2 am, Tuesday morning.
“The driver or the occupant of the vehicle did state that he had a deceased deer in his trunk,” Lieutenant Stacy Geik said.
“I`ve been an officer for 22 years, and I have many things in a trunk and I have not seen a live white-tailed deer spring out the back of a trunk,” Geik said.
The deer certainly fooled the driver.
“I suspect the deer hit his car, ran into [and] probably knocked itself out. He picked it up. Put in the back of his vehicle to take home, and it wasn`t dead,” the lieutenant explained.
After the deer went dashing through the snow, the officer let the man go.
Everyone went home with a story to tell.
