Several people in West Michigan contacted FOX17 this afternoon complaining of a text messages they’ve received claiming their Fifth Third Bank account had been suspended, asking users to click a link to update their account information.

Officials at Fifth Third Bank say this is a scam, and tell users not to click the link.  The bogus link reads http://phoenixsong.net/53.

Fifth Third Bank says they’ve only received 6 or 7 direct complaints about the phishing scam, but several people complaining of the bogus texts say they’re not even Fifth Third Bank customers.

Fifth Third Bank says they have an investigative team that will look into where these messages originated from.  If you received one, you’re asked not to open it, and forward the message to 53investigation@security.53.com
