HICKORY CORNERS, Mich. — Now that spring has finally decided to bring us those sunny, warm days, Gilmore Car Museum wants you to shine up those classic cars and show them off. The museum, located about 20 minutes from US 131 and I-94, started back in the ’60s as a hobby and now includes eight historic barns, a 1930s service station, a small town train station and three miles of paved roads.
On Saturday, May 11, the museum will hold its annual “Dust Off”show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., 6865 Hickory Road. Hot rods, rat rods, project cars, all of the above, are encouraged to attend. There are no trophies or awards, just a lot of bragging rights for the beauties. General admission is $7, which allows you to see the museum and attend the event. For those showing cars, it is $5. There is also some swap meet space available.
Another great event will be on Saturday, May 18, when the new Model A Ford Museum opens at Gilmore. Visitors can be first through the door starting at 10 a.m.
The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5p.m year round and until 6p.m. on the weekend.
