PORTAGE, Mich.- A compactor at a manufacturing plant caught fire early this morning.
Portage Firefighters got the call just after 1am on Saturday, the 22nd. When they arrived, a compactor was on fire that was full of cardboard, animal fat, and other recycling items. Firefighters had a hard time fighting the fire because of the space the compactor was in so they had to call a wrecker. The wrecker pulled the compactor away and the fire was then put out.
Officials say there wasn’t any damage to the building and no one was hurt. The fire was out by 3:45am.
