Substation Failure Causes Brownouts Across Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Thousands of people across Grand Rapids lost power Sunday morning after a problem with a substation on the city’s northeast side.

A FOX 17 news crew discovered utility workers trying to fix the problem at the substation at Aberdeen and Dawson.  The workers said a squirrel caused the issue.

The Consumer’s Energy power outage map¬†shows outages primarily in the Riverside Park Neighborhood as well as the intersection of Fuller and Knapp.

It is not clear when power will be restored.
