Thief Robs Taxi Driver at Gunpoint, Then Steals Taxi

GRPDGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint early Thursday morning, and then stole the taxi itself.

According to police in Grand Rapids, the robbery happened at around 2:15 a.m. near 1100 Jefferson SE.  A man in his mid-20s pointed a handgun at the driver, robbed him, and then stole the cab.  The driver was not injured in the encounter.

Police have not yet recovered the taxi, which is described as white and blue in color, and is cab #6.

The van is described as a  1998 Pontiac Van Blue and White in color

Suspect is black male, 5’6”, early 20s with braids Blue hoodie and blue jeans. Driver says he thinks he knows the man, according to driver, the suspect took $300 from him and his cellphone.
