Man Rescued After Scuba Diving Near The Fish Ladder; Dies At The Hospital

Fish Ladder DrowningGRAND RAPIDS, Mich- A man has been pronounced dead after a scuba diving accident in the Grand River according to the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Three people were scuba diving along the wall between the Fish Ladder and the dam when one person did not come up according to witnesses at the scene.  This happened around 10:30 a.m.
The Grand Rapids Fire Department was able to get the person out of the water and transported them to a local hospital, but could not be revived.

The identity of the man has not been released, pending notification of his family.

This incident remains under investigation.

    My dad and brothers fished that river for years, and if there is anything learned from all those years of exerience is you better know what's down there before you go messin around. The river floor structure can change in a hurry, Just sayin. Maybe this was a malfunction of equipment. Whatever the case, I am very sorry for the family's loss of a loved one.
