Truck Crash Shuts Down US 131 For Several Hours

police_lights_1 ALLEGAN COUNTY,Mich. —  Deputies with the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office responded to a traffic crash on US 131 south of the Shelbyville near the 59 mile maker September 27 around 3pm.  The crash, which resulted in minor injuries to the driver, has resulted in the shutting down of one of the northbound lanes.  Deputies expect the lane closure to last for at least another 2 hours.

The Driver appears to have possibly suffered some type of medical condition that resulted in him loosing  control of  a tandem tanker, which was fortunately empty at the time of the crash.  The truck left the roadway on the shoulder side of 131 crashed and caught fire.

The driver was transported by Wayland EMS to a hospital in Kalamazoo for a head injury.  The fire was extinguished by the Wayland Fire Department and the Martin Fire Department.
