MUSKEGON, Mich.,–By just 5:00p.m. Monday, Stafford Towing out of Muskegon had more than 50 calls and they were just getting started as the roads turned to ice along the lakeshore.
Jeff Woirol has been working as a tow truck driver for more 18 years and has seen a lot across West Michigan roads.
“Everybody forgets how to drive in the first snow and some people get caught off guard, not having good tires and as a result they end up in the ditch or on their top.”
Woirol says his truck has been hit three times while on the side of the road working crashes and says it never gets old to remind drivers to take it slow.
Dash Camera video sent to Fox17 by Eagle towing proves it. It happened around 11:30 Monday morning along US-31 near White Lake Drive, in the video you can see the working out changing a tire when a truck and trailer come rolling down and lose control, slamming into the ditch and just missing the stopped car.
“Just slow down give yourself extra time. You know that extra 5 mph is not going to get you there any quicker,” said Woirol.
