Elliot Michael Indiana captureLANSING, Mich. (Feb. 7, 2014)– The state attorney general’s office will lead the investigation into Michael Elliot’s escape from the Ionia Correctional Factility February 2.

The decision was announced in a release from Gov. Rick Snyder and Attorney General Bill Schuette.

Snyder asked Schuette to make the move, he said in the release. “We must have an exhaustive investigation into the circumstances that led to this incident and take whatever appropriate action may be necessary to prevent future occurrances.”

Schuette said in the release the investigation will be “aggressive” and a “full and complete report” would be the result.

Elliot escaped the night of February 2 while serving a life sentence for several murders. He was caught in Indiana late the next day.
