Dog Tossed into Garbage Can in Grand Rapids Looking for ‘Forever Home’

foxy dog abandoned pic1GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (February 11, 2014) – An eight week old Chihuahua-mix is getting a second lease on life after being tossed into a garbage can and abandoned.

The dog named “Foxy” was rescued by a woman who heard the puppy crying in the trash can near her home on Monday.  The woman cared for the puppy until contacting Kent County Animal Control today.

“We noticed right away that the dog had issues with her left eye,” said Dr. Laurie Wright, Kent County Animal Shelter Veterinarian in a press release.  “It appears she can see, but we could not tell how bad the damage to her eye was, and I knew it was something that needed a specialist’s attention.”

Dr. Wright contacted Dr. Cassandra Bliss of BluePearl Veterinary Partners, a board certified ophthalmologist who has assisted the Kent County Animal Shelter with injured or impaired pets.

Doctors are hopeful the eye can be repaired, but it may be necessary to remove it entirely.  A procedure is scheduled for Wednesday to repair “Foxy’s” eye.  She’ll be released back to the shelter after that, available for adoption as quickly as possible.

Information on adopting pets through the Kent County Animal Shelter is available at  Adoptions are $50, plus $12 for a one-year license for dogs, and just $5 for cats.

Only a low-life POS could do something so miserable. But in a society where people shoot at people for getting a food order wrong, what the heck can you expect? People suck, animals don't.

Mckenzie Coleman removed the picture of her and Foxy from her Facebook page after Wood reported she had pictures of her and Foxy posted in January, Her mother Johnnie Simmons has a couple of pictures of Foxy and they were uploaded on January 22, 2014. One of them is just Foxy and her comment says "My New Baby Chilly" and the other one is a picture of Foxy with another dog and her comments says "Sisters for Life much love for life" Both are somewhat dark pictures but if you lighten them just a little you can see it's Foxy. So if her Ipad was from Kentucky (not buying that story) then how is it her Mom has photo's of Foxy posted in January too and she claims Foxy is hers?
These links should bring you to the pictures. If not, I took a screen shot of both of them if you need them…
By the way, Mckenzie says she called the dog "Left Eye" Her Mom called the dog "Chilly" Left Eye and Chilly are two members of TLC. Which they both like.
