Person of Interest in MSU Deadly Shooting Arrested in Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 18, 2014) — A person of interest in the fatal Jan. 31 shooting near Michigan State University was arrested after a brief standoff in Grand Rapids Tuesday night.

Sources close to the investigation say that that man is 19-year-old Marqua McCoy.

Police began investigating a home in the 800 block of Temple Street SE at about 7 p.m.  They later surrounded the home before the man surrendered at approximately 8:30 p.m.

According to Grand Rapids Police, Temple Street was blocked off in the area of Butler and Marshall avenues.

McCoy is a parole absconder, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Dominique Nolff, 20, of Middleville was killed in that homicide at Cedar Village Apartments near MSU’s campus.  His roommate, 20-year-old Corbin Holwerda, of Grand Haven was injured but has since been released from the hospital.
