Questions If Extreme Cold Played Role in Heritage Hill Death

Dan Lester

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Feb. 27, 2014) — New details were released Thursday after a man was found dead on a sidewalk this week in the Heritage Hill neighborhood.

Fourty-year-old Danny Lester was found Tuesday morning in the 500 block of Lyon Street NE around 7 a.m. when a passerby noticed him lying on the sidewalk and thought he was sleeping.

Grand Rapids Police said Thursday Lester was not appropriately dressed for the weather, only wearing a thin jacket, no gloves and no hat.  Officials said there were no obvious signs of trauma, and there were no obvious signs whether Lester suffered a heart attack or aneurysm.

Autopsy and toxicology results will not be available for about six to eight weeks, said police.

Cold shouldn't be the culprit, not being smart enough to dress for the weather should be! But, I don't see many people that do dress appropriately in the winter months. If it is cold enough to dress your child in thermal wear, I would suggest you as an adult do to. It makes the weather much more tolerable!
