03-28-14-Same-sex-ceremony-HolderWASHINGTON (March 28, 2014) — The federal government will recognize any same-sex marriages performed recently after a judge ruled Michigan’s ban was unconstitutional.

“The Governor of Michigan has made clear that the marriages that took place on Saturday were lawful and valid when entered into,” said U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in a statement on the Department of Justice web site. Ceremonies stopped when a stay on the decision was issued pending further appeals.

“These Michigan couples will not be asked to wait for further resolution in the courts before they may seek federal benefits to which they are entitled,” despite Michigan’s refusal to grant further rights and benefits to the couples, the statement said.

Still not recognized by the voters of Michigan! Never will be. I would like to hear some comments from the gay community on their take on this. Because anybody with a brain knows this is just another political ploy to vote democratic, I hope the gays realize that they are just being used as pawns of the political game now.

And before you all pitch a bitch fest, I do have gay friends, and most of them do realize this is just a game now. You don't need a piece of paper to be happy, or do you?

I don't care if it's not recognized by the voters, that doesn't matter. What matters is that all men are treated equally under secular civil law. Marriage equality is NOT a political statement.

You will never see the big picture I guess. And now you have millions of voters that are even more hateful towards the gay community, I don't see the logic in any of this.

The thing I don't understand is why the county clerks were open on Saturday anyway. As a straight man, if I asked them to open on a Saturday special for me they would have looked at me like I was crazy. Seems to me we should blame the clerks offices for all the controversy.
