MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — Two dogs found dumped along the roadside Feb. 23 had not been involved in dog fighting.
The Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department investigated the incident after a husband and wife discovered the dogs along Hyde Park Road, adjacent to a school, while they were out for a walk that Sunday.
A veterinarian who works with the sheriff’s office conducted autopsies on the dogs’ bodies.
On Thursday, the sheriff’s department announced that “The exams indicate injuries originally suspected of being related to dog fighting were in fact, post mortem. The investigation reveals no connections to organized dog-fighting.”
The deaths remain under investigation.
