KALAMAZOO, Mich. (April 14, 2014) — Former middle school principal Greg Tibbetts pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a former student, according to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
Tibbetts will spend between 18 months and 15 years in prison after he admitted to touching a then-14-year-old male victim’s genitals in 2011.
He was arrested in October 2012 and initially charged with more than a dozen felonies after allegations that he had sex with a former student.
He resigned shortly after being charged.
According to the prosecutor’s office, 10 counts related to possessing images of allegedly underage, unidentified males were dropped. Prosecutors also dropped two charges of using an electronic device to commit a crime involving sexual acts.
