The move was announced at the DeltaPlex Tuesday.  According to a release, the SSJ Group purchased the team.

In addition to being relocated to West Michigan, the franchise is asking for fans to help rename the team. Go to grdleague.com to participate.

The Grand Rapids team will be in a single-affiliation hybrid partnership with the Detroit Pistons.

This means the Pistons’ operations department will oversee all personnel and basketball-related aspects of the team and the SSJ Group will manage the team’s day-to-day business and community relations.

“We’re excited to work with an outstanding ownership group, led by Steve Jbara, and the Detroit Pistons to bring the NBA D-League to Grand Rapids and greater Western Michigan,” Dan Reed, NBA D-League president, said in a release.

The team will play in the DeltaPlex starting in November.  You can like them on Facebookto get the latest information.
