The teenager ran from officers as another person was being searched in the 400 block of West Center Street around 12:30 a.m.  Officers were originally called to the area on a report there was a person with a gun.

Officers chased the teenager around homes in the area, and lost sight of the teen.  Investigators say as one of the officers rounded a home they heard a ‘clicking noise’ and spotted the teenager again who kept running.

Officers were able to arrest the teenager in the 200 block of West Center Street.

They returned to the area where the officer had lost sight of him and found a loaded .38 caliber revolver.  The gun was loaded with five bullets, three of which had hammer strikes on the primer but hadn’t fired.

Officers believe the ‘clicking noise’ that was heard was the teenager attempted to fire the weapon at officers, but the gun misfired.

The name of the teenager that was arrested following the chase hasn’t been released.
