House ‘Exploded’ on Grand Rapids Northeast Side, Say Neighbors

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A plume of black smoke could be seen rising from Grand Rapids’ northeast side Tuesday afternoon.

Fire broke out at a home in the 900 block of N. Park, near the intersection of Park and Cheney at around 1:15 p.m.

The house is near North Park Montessori Academy.

A neighbor said she heard an explosion before the home erupted into flames.  They also said there was a smell of natural gas prior to the blast.
