CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (May 27, 2014) — The driver of a semi truck is dead after his rig crashed into a tree and burst into flames on Tuesday morning.

Police say the accident happened on I-94 westbound at mile marker 118 in Sheridan Township.  At this time, it is unclear what may have led to the crash, but deputies say the semi left the road and crashed into a tree.  The wreckage then caught fire.  The driver was killed in the crash.

It will take several hours for crews to remove all the debris and investigate the accident.  Westbound I-94 after 26 Mile Road at MM 118 has the right lane blocked as of 9:15 a.m.
