Fire Breaks Out at Lawton Elementary School; Classes Dismissing

Lawton Elementary School

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. – Nobody was hurt when a fire broke out Lawton Elementary School in Van Buren County.

Here is a news release from the school:


Lawton Schools (all buildings) will be dismissing at 12:45pm today due to a small fire in the elementary building. The fire is out and ALL kids are safe! Buses will be running, or you can pick up your elementary children at the elementary building. Please park in the usual lots and the kids are at the playground. If you pick them up, they need to be signed out at the playground.

Dismissal is at 12:45 pm. Buses will be running. If you choose to pick up your child, please, use 2nd Street and follow directions as to where to go from there.

    Many Thank You's go out to all of the Lawton School Staff, and to all of our Fire and Police Departments that responded so quickly! There was a lot less panic from all the parents. It's good to know that there are caring people who are in this town that not only take care of their own children but care enough about all of our children!!!
