3-Day Fundraiser Helps Yolanda Reyes’ Burial & Children
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A fundraiser started today for a Grand Rapids woman who was recently found dead.
A benefit community yard sale for Yolanda Reyes is being conducted at the La Casa De La Cobija store (which means The House of Blankets) at 2355 S. Division St. in Grand Rapids from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Saturday will feature food booths selling food and drinks on site.
The money raised will be used to help send Yolanda Reyes’ body back to Guatemala to be buried. The goal is to raise $12,000 for Reyes’ burial and to have some left over to help her children and their needs.
Items to be donated can still be dropped off at the store.
Those who cannot attend from Thursday through Saturday should go to gofundme.com on the Web and type in “Yolanda Reyes.”
Reyes, 40, was reported missing April 24 after failing to report for work at a greenhouse in Walker. Her body was found May 16 buried at a construction site in Walker. Police are calling her death a homicide.
Reyes leaves behind four children.
Police are still looking for information regarding Reyes’ death and haven’t made any arrests. Anyone who has any information should call Walker Police at (616) 791-6800.
