First Pictures Coming In From Storm-Ravaged Southern Kent County

52nd Street between Eastern and Division Avenues.

KENTWOOD, Mich. – Sunday night’s strong storms may have spawned a microburst or a possible brief tornado, said reports from the National Weather Service.

FOX 17’s Dana Chicklas tweeted, “Major home/street damage from storm in Kentwood around 52nd between Eastern/Division: trees, power lines down.”

The most extensive damage was in the area of 54th Street and U.S. 131, according to viewers.

Corin Nicole: “Just got a flash flood warning. Im in the 54th and division and a funnel cloud it sounded like planes crashing. Took siding off my house uprooted trees in my backyard and all down the street. Our whole street is blocked off because of several down power lines.”

Elysabeth Baylee: “It’s a mess out here. I ran out to grab something not thinking about it and they shut down division on me and I had a hard time getting home. I ended up having to grab 131 to 68th and come back around to 60th.”
