WYOMING, Mich. -- Wyoming police have identified the man found dead in Wyoming Wednesday as 25-year-old Charles Gerard Oppenneer.
Oppenneer's death is being investigated as a homicide. Wyoming police said that while officers were investigating an abandoned vehicle at about noon Wednesday, they found his body in a wooded area just north of Gezon Court.
Police say he was last seen with 18-year-old Brooke Ann Slocum on July 12. Investigators have been unable to locate her, and are asking for the public's help.
Police aren't saying much about the case only that they are "concerned" about Slocum.
"We are looking into every possible angle we can, anything that involves Charles and Brooke, what happened and where Brooke is right now. Obviously we are very concerned because she was the last person seen with Charles. Therefore we want to talk with her, determine her location and whether or not she is safe," said Capt. Kim Koster.
She is described in a release as 5 feet 3 inches tall, 110 lbs with teal blue hair and green eyes. She is reportedly eight months pregnant.
Police say Slocum and Oppenneer are acqutiances but according to their Facebook pages, they are in a relationship.
Investigators were back out at the scene Thursday until at least 5pm, "we have been searching the scene for clues of any evidence regarding this homicide" Koster said.
