CASS COUNTY, Mich. — A search is underway for a missing Cass County dementia patient.

On Wednesday evening, Cass County Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. announced that his office was searching for a dementia patient who walked away from an assisted living home at the corner of Morton Road and Glenwood Street in Cass County.

Charles Rusher, 59, is 5’6″ and weighs about 125 pounds. He is a bald, white man and is very tan with a very long goatee. Rusher was last seen wearing a pair of gray sweatpants and a gray striped shirt.

Police say they received several tips late Wednesday night that a person  fitting Rusher’s description was seen walking and possibly hitch hiking from Marcellus Highway near Dowagiac toward Marcellus. It’s believed he was last seen near M-216 and US-131 traveling toward Three Rivers; he has ties to that area as well as White Pigeon.

Anyone who has seen Rusher or who has any information regarding him should contact the Cass County Sheriff’s Office at (269) 445-1560.

The Wayne Township Fire Department, Michigan State Police and local volunteers are assisting the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in the search for Rusher.
