GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Grand Rapids Public Schools announced Monday evening that Tuesday's annual Back To School Celebration will be moved inside due to forecasts of inclement weather.

The festivities were scheduled for 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at John Ball Park. However, although the time will remain the same, the event has moved indoors to City High Middle School, which is at the former Creston High School location.

The free event brings together GRPS students, their families, and prospective families to get ready for the coming school year.

Families attending will enjoy food, giveaways, music, and live entertainment. Children's activities will include games, a bounce house, an obstacle course, face painting, balloon animals, and arts and crafts.

There will also be dozens of informational booths about school choices, special education services, after-school programs, English Language Learner services, early childhood, adult education, athletics, school safety, health services, and more.

School uniform providers also will be at the event so that families can purchase uniforms, which will be required for elementary and middle school students in the fall.
