TUCSON, Ariz. — The longtime voice of Saturday Night Live has fallen silent:  Don Pardo died Monday at the age of 96.

Pardo passed away at his home in Arizona.  He was best known for beginning every show with the line “It’s Saturday Night Live!” followed by his announcing of the cast, musical guest, and weekly host at the open of nearly every episode of SNL, from the premiere in 1975 until just last year.

Pardo also provided his voice for the early years of game shows that include “The Price is Right” and “Jeopardy!”
