MUSKEGON, Mich. — Police believe they have solved a series of vehicle break-ins on the city’s west side.

Muskegon Police Department officers intercepted a 23-year-old Muskegon man October 10 as he prowled about the 2600 block of Lakeshore Drive early that morning.

A number of complaints had been made about cell phones, money, GPS units, CD’s, car stereos, charging cords, and money stolen from vehicles. Some of the vehicles had been left unlocked.

The suspect not only had a number of the missing items on him, but he had tools used to break into locked vehicles, police said.

Investigators believe some thefts have not been reported, so they are asking any theft victims to call 231-724-6750 and report the thefts so that items can be returned.

Police are also reiterating that cars and homes should always be locked. And items inside vehicles should be placed out of sight whenever possible to discourage thieves.
