GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A man who police were trying to take into custody attempted to run from officers, and ended up in the Grand River.

Police say just before midnight on Monday, they were pursuing a suspect who had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault charges.  The man either jumped or fell into the Grand River near the Blue Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids.

Officials were able to get a boat in the water and bring the man back to shore.  He was taken to the hospital for evaluation, but he wasn’t injured…just very cold.

He was later taken into custody.
