22-year-old killed in Kalamazoo County crash

WAKESHMA TWP., Mich.— A crash in Kalamazoo County killed one person Friday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies said the driver, a 22-year-old Climax area resident, was driving north on S. 42nd St. when he veered off the road and hit a tree.

This happened just before 3:30 p.m. There were no other vehicles involved.

Police say the driver didn’t appear to be wearing a seatbelt. The name of the victim wasn’t initially released by authorities.

Family and friends online have identified the victim as William Fitzsimmons, a 2010 graduate Climax-Scotts High School.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
