VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Bloomingdale Township investigated a suspicious vehicle late Sunday night, and found that a 16-year-old male had stolen it, and used it to take his girlfriend on a date.

This all unfolded shortly before midnight on Monday.  Police spotted a 1997 Dodge Ram parked suspiciously on County Road 390.  When they went to investigate, they found a 16-year-old behind the wheel, and he did not have a valid driver’s license.  His 17-year-old girlfriend was in the passenger seat.

Police learned that the teen allegedly stole the pickup out of Allegan County and used it to visit his girlfriend.  Both of them were turned over to their parents.  A copy of the incident report is being forwarded to prosecutors, for potential charges of driving without a license and possessing a stolen vehicle.
