KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Residents and businesses within a 3-mile radius of the I-94 pile-up near Galesburg were asked to evacuate Friday, Michigan State Police said.
As of1:10 p.m. Hazmat officials believe the hazardous material situation on the highway is under control. Residents who live within a 1-mile radius of mile marker 90 are still asked to remain in their homes.
A semi-truck hauling hazardous material was reportedly involved in the crash,and another truck carrying a large amount of fireworks was next to it and caught on fire.
