KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. -- A truck carrying 44,000 pounds of fireworks exploded during the massive pile-up on I-94 in Kalamazoo County Friday.
There was another semi-truck carrying hazardous materials, and anyone living within a 1-mile radius of mile marker 90 on the highway was being asked to take shelter as a precaution. As of 1:10 p.m. officials believe all hazardous materials have been burned off.
One death and at least 20 injuries have been reported in the 120+ vehicle pile-up. We have multiple crews on the scene who will update this story as we learn more.
