ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Seven people were injured — some critically — in a head-on crash on a rural stretch of highway Tuesday night.
The accident occurred at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday on M-43 near County Road 653 and involved two vehicles. Deputies noted significant front end damage to both cars.
The driver of the Buick, a 39-year-old female, along with a 10-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl all sustained broken bones and possible internal injuries. In the other car, the driver, a 25-year-old woman sustained severe injuries to her face and legs, and possibly has internal injuries as well. Also in the Kia was a 42-year-old man who had several non-life threatening injuries, a 2-year old girl and 5 month old baby who both only had minor injuries. All victims in the crash were taken to the hospital, and are currently listed in conditions that range from stable, to critical.
According to deputies, it does not appear that speed, alcohol, drugs nor texting were contributing factors in the crash.
The collision remains under investigation by the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office. If you know anything about this, call 269-657-3101.
