ROCKFORD, Mich. — Students at Rockford High School were moved to the gym Thursday after a threat involving a propane tank being placed in the building.
According to a statement from the school, Rockford Police performed a sweep of the gymnasium and relocated the students there while they investigated the rest of the school.
The incident was reported shortly after 12:10 p.m., according to the office of Superintendent Dr. Michael Shibler and students remained in the gym for the remainder of the school day. Buses were delayed by about 10 minutes, school officials said.
K9 units from the Kent County Sheriff’s Department were called in to assist with the search after police said someone reported that a propane tank inside a backpack had been placed in the school. Michigan State Police were also called to the scene.
