GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Police have recovered a body that was discovered in the Grand River near downtown Grand Rapids Thursday afternoon.
Grand Rapids Police called in the Kent County Dive Team to assist, along with the Grand Rapids Fire Deptartment.
GRPD Capt. Eric Payne said that a passerby notified them of the body near Sixth Street Park on the east side of the Grand River at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
The body was recovered a couple hours later. Capt. Payne said that the medical examiner will determine the identity and cause of death.
Investigators would only say that the body appears to be a male.
