KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Deputy Paul Barquist passed away after suffering an unspecified medical emergency Wednesday morning, the Kent County Sheriff’s Department said.
Barquist, 46, was an 18-year veteran of the department.
“Paul, we will miss your friendship, your companionship, and your dedicated service,” a post on the sheriff’s department’s Facebook page says.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help his family cover funeral costs.
