GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 17-year-old who police say targeted fellow classmates at West Catholic High School with death threats is now formally charged in the case.
FOX 17 has also learned that Matthew Herrington is also facing child pornography charges.
Herrington is charged with making a false report or threat of terrorism from last month’s school threats investigation. Investigators say he used posts on Instagram to target specific students with death threats.
During the course of the investigation, however, prosecutors have confirmed that they have added charges of possession of child sexually abusive material and making child sexually abusive material.
Herrington was arraigned in Grand Rapids District Court Thursday morning on all of the charges. He faces a probable cause hearing and a preliminary hearing later this month.
