Fulton Street closure affects three Grand Rapids arteries

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The closure of a section of Fulton Street is also closing College Avenue and Lake Drive in Grand Rapids.

The city plans to keep Fulton Street closed between a point east of Lake Drive to College Avenue until June 17. Work will be done on water lines, storm sewers, and sanitary sewers.

Lake Drive is also closed at the Fulton Street intersection, and College Avenue is closed at Fulton Street.

During the project, two-way traffic will be allowed on College Avenue between Fulton Street and Fountain Avenue where normally traffic is one-way southbound.

Two-way traffic is also being allowed on Union Avenue between the closure at Fulton Street and Fountain Avenue and between Cherry Street and Fulton Street. Union Avenue is usually one-way northbound.

As a detour, the city recommends using Cherry Street between Lake Drive and Lafayette Avenue.

The Fulton Street closure is scheduled to last until June 17, but expect lane closures as work is finished up until July 1.
