ECKFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 12-year-old boy was critically injured Friday morning after being struck by a car while attempting to board a Marshall Public Schools bus.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened at about 6:49 a.m. in the 21000 block of F. Drive South.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old Marshall man, was driving eastbound on F. Drive when he struck the boy. According to the sheriff’s department, the school bus had its flashing lights and stop sign activated at the time of the crash.
The boy was airlifted to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.
The driver who struck the boy was also taken to the hospital and voluntarily submitted to a blood test, according to a release. He has been released pending further investigation.
No other injuries were reported.
