**Editorial Update**

“Gregory Lynn Cole’s attorney tells FOX 17 that he successfully completed a Domestic Violence Diversion Program and the domestic violence charge against him was dismissed on October 21, 2016. The attorney also tells us that the Allegan County prosecutor also agreed to drop the charge of interfering with an electronic communications device. Although he was arrested and charged with these crimes, Mr. Cole’s attorney tells FOX 17 that he was never convicted.”

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — An Allegan County probation officer has been charged with domestic violence and tampering with an electronic device after an altercation with his girlfriend.

Gregory Lynn Cole has been placed on unpaid leave by his employer, the Michigan Department of Corrections.

A Michigan State Police spokesman told FOX 17 NEWS that the investigation was started by troopers at the Wayland Post before detectives from both the Paw Paw and Wayland posts took over.

An MSP trooper testified during a probable cause hearing that Cole forced entry into his girlfriend’s home, refused to allow her to call 911, threw her cell phone against a wall, dragged her back into the house by her feet after she attempted to flee, knocked her on the head, and held the woman in her home overnight against her will.

The girlfriend eventually escaped.

Cole was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail and was released on bond. He will be back in court early next month.
