Grand Haven man pleads guilty in sword threatening case

samuel antonio moyaGRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Samuel Moya Jr. has pleaded guilty after officials say he threatened his girlfriend with a sword.

Moya, 39, pleaded guilty Monday to domestic violence third offense and attempted felonious assault, according to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office.    Officials dropped a charge of felonious assault as part of the plea deal.

After the incident, officials say his girlfriend fled the home with two children, one of whom the couple had together.   Moya was arrested Feb. 27 in the 400 block of Elliot Street after a brief stand-off with police.  He will be sentenced May 4 at 1 p.m., according to the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office.
