MIDDLEVILLE, Mich. -- Angelica Zenquis is a new mom and has another baby on the way.

She said she got a bill from a collections agency in December, but Zenquis knew at that point she didn't owe on anything. So she and her husband set the bill aside.

"Then we got [another notice] this weekend, and I called the collection agency," Zenquis said.

The Middleville mom found out she has an outstanding bill for $210 from Cablevison.

"I didn't even know what [Cablevision] was. I've never heard of it," she said.

According to its website, the company services five areas on the East Coast. The past due bills are from 2012 and 2013. Zenquis contacted cablevision and learned her name and social security number were attached to an account opened in her name.

"They told me it was Bridgeport, Connecticut," she said.

Zenquis is 19 years old. That means she was 16 when the account became delinquent.
She suspects someone stole her identity.

Zenquis said she was an active student at Allegan High School at the time and has never even been to Connecticut.

"When I called the second time, I tried to tell them I was 16 at the time. The first person told me the birthday on the account was in '95. A 16 year old can't have a cable account," Zenquis said.

She's trying to get the account closed, be cleared of this debt and prevent this from going on her credit report.

In addition to sending a photo ID to the company, she said, "I need two forms of residency. They were like, 'you can get a utility bill.'"

Zenquis said she told them, "I was 16. I didn't have a utility bill in my name. What am I supposed to do?"

She called the FOX 17 Problem Solvers, and we called the company.

Cablevision called backed promptly. The company said the situation has been brought to the attention of the billing department. They are in contact with Zenquis and working toward a resolution. It's not certain, but Zenquis and her husband believe a distant relative may have stolen her identity.
