MICHIGAN -- Governor Snyder has announced an upcoming national tour to promote Michigan and plans for the state's future.
Snyder was in Grand Rapids Saturday for the Skills USA state competition where he spoke briefly about the upcoming tour and what it means.
"If you look at it, we are the comeback state. But, much of the country doesn't know that," Snyder said. Our reputation lags five to ten years behind. We're doing so great in this state-- we need to get out and tell the rest of the nation."
This comes after Snyder announced recently that Michigan's unemployment rate has dropped to 5.9 percent-- the lowest in 14 years.
When asked if this could be a precursor to a possible presidential run, Snyder didn't rule out the possibility, responding, "I don't want to start a lot of speculation on that. I'm proud to be the Governor of Michigan and I'm going to go out on this tour talking about Michigan. We'll take things one step at a time."
Speaking more about the upcoming tour, he said, "At this point, I'd say I'm going to go out and market Michigan. That's why I'm at events like these-- to go tell the nation, if you want something built, manufactured, grown, or thought up, come to Michigan to do it."
