PORTAGE, Mich. — Two people are in custody after police say they refused to bring their car to a stop, even after all their tires had been flattened by officers.

It happened shortly after 3:00 a.m. when Portage Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation as it pulled into the Milham Meadows Apartments.  The driver ignored the attempt, and continued through the complex before speeding off on Oakland Drive.

Another officer was at the intersection of Oakland and Kilgore, and was able to flatten one of the suspect’s tires.  The driver was able to continue, however.

Further up the road, a third officer managed to flatten the rest of the tires at the intersection of Oakland and Howard.  Despite having four destroyed tires, the suspect was able to keep going.

Eventually, some two miles later, the vehicle came to a stop at Church and Frank Street.  The driver, a 28-year-old man, was arrested without further incident.  A 20-year-old female passenger, who was the vehicle’s registered owner, was also taken into custody on a warrant.
