Janna Kelly murder case moves to Grand Rapids

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — The case surrounding the murder of Jana Kelley is moving to a Kent County courtroom.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department said murder chargers will be issued in 61st District Court in Grand Rapids against 52-year-old Robin Lynn Root.

The transfer of the case began Monday.

According to court documents obtained by FOX 17   Root confessed to the murder of Janna Kelly in 2007.  Root admitted to pushing Kelly at Kelly’s Grand Rapids home and placing her unconscious body in the trunk of her car.

The next day, Root allegedly returned to Kelly’s home and discovered she was decease and drove to Ottawa County to dispose of her body.

Kelly’s body was found 16000 block of Pierce Street in Grand Haven Township on March 13, 2008.
